Saras and Kumud

The episode begins with Kalika sneaking into Saras and Kumud’s bedroom. She looks around at the beautiful decorations and smirks. “Tonight Saras may be yours,” she says, “but this night won’t belong to you.

Watch how I ruin everything.” She heads to the power box and cuts off the electricity, then grabs a torch and gloats, “The main switch is off now, Kumud—watch what happens next.” She lays a live wire on the bed with malicious intent.

Suddenly, she hears a car and panics. “Why are they back so soon? How do I escape now?” She hides quickly. Outside, Danny and Kusum stop Saras and Kumud, suggesting they do the Grah Pravesh first. Saras notices the lights are off and questions it.

Danny assumes it’s a power outage and worries about how the rituals will proceed. Kusum reassures them, saying Kumud will bring light into their home.

Kusum goes to get the aarti plate while Danny checks the fuse. Saras suggests they begin the ritual in the meantime. Danny finds the main switch turned off and calls out to Kusum, asking who did it. She says she doesn’t know and urges him to hurry.

He switches the mains on, but the lights remain off. Realizing the fuse has blown, he promises to call an electrician after the Grah Pravesh. Saras inquires again about the lights, and Danny explains the fuse issue. Kusum performs the welcoming ritual, smiling, as Kalika watches from a distance, still hidden and tense about how to leave unnoticed.

Kusum applies the tilak and does aarti for Saras and Kumud, welcoming them into the house. The couple smiles and steps inside, completing the traditional rituals as Kumud leaves red footprints on the floor. Kusum then asks them to proceed to their room. Kalika grows more anxious as they approach.

As they walk, Kusum playfully asks Saras for Nek—a gift from the groom before the wedding night. Saras plays dumb, and Danny teases that it’s a “tax” the groom must pay. Saras hands Kusum a generous amount, making her happy.

Danny cheekily asks for a share. Kumud opens the bedroom door, and to their shock, the bed is on fire. Everyone is stunned. Kumud breaks down in tears, and Kusum consoles her.

Danny tries to explain, saying the bed caught fire from the lights placed around it. He adds that he already called the electrician. Kusum wonders who turned off the mains. Danny, unsure, takes the blame.

He regrets the situation, especially after decorating the room with love. Saras lightens the mood, saying he can see that in Danny’s face, and assures everyone that he’s still happy. He then suggests sleeping in the hall.

Kusum offers her own room, but Danny insists Saras and Kumud deserve privacy. Saras agrees and tells them to go rest while he and Kumud stay in the drawing room. Once alone, Kumud laments, “Why did this happen?” Saras reassures her, “It’s nothing.

Our feelings are still waiting to be expressed. This is our dream night, and I won’t let it slip away.” Curious, she asks what he plans to do. “Come with me,” he says mysteriously.

He leads her to a cloth factory. Kumud protests, saying it’s late and she doesn’t want surprises. Saras asks her to wait and brings her inside with her eyes closed. When she opens them, she finds the hall beautifully decorated with candles and draped fabric, turned into a romantic bedroom. She smiles, touched by his effort. A soft tune plays in the background.

Meanwhile, Kusum walks into her room where Danny is pretending to read a book. He gazes at her, and she blushes. He approaches her slowly and holds her, but she suddenly turns and says, “My favorite show is on TV—let’s watch it.” He insists on watching cricket instead. They bicker lightheartedly.

Back at the decorated hall, Saras looks at Kumud lovingly and draws closer. The romantic song Mann Ke Dor plays. He touches her gently as she closes her eyes. He lifts her into his arms while she smiles blissfully.

Later, Saras playfully asks Kumud to wear her ghunghat. Pretending to be a visitor, he knocks on an imaginary door, saying, “Is anyone home? I want to meet my bride.” Kumud plays along, asking who he is. He praises her, saying, “She is Kumud Desai, and I must meet her tonight. It’s our wedding night.” Kumud jokingly replies, “She’s not here.” Saras insists, “I know she is. If you don’t open the door, I’ll break it.” He then pretends to break it down and falls on her with a smile.
