Anupama update Thursday 10 July 2025
The episode begins with Moti Baa questioning Rahi on why she is refusing to marry Prem, especially when both of them clearly love each other. Rahi calmly explains that although she cares deeply for Prem, she isn’t ready for marriage yet. She wants to focus on building her career first and has learned from her mother the value of independence, regardless of wealth. Rahi shares her dream of opening a dance academy like her mother and says she cannot think of marriage until she helps ease her mother’s burdens. She sincerely apologizes to Moti Baa for declining the proposal at this time.
Khyati interjects and asks if Rahi even wants to marry Prem at all. Rahi admits she does, but she needs more time to truly understand their relationship. “It’s like wet clay,” she says, “it needs time to take shape.” Prem supports her decision and also states that he’s not ready for marriage. He requests Moti Baa to take back the Shagun. Rahi places the bridal dupatta on the table and gently asks Moti Baa to give them space and time. Mita signals a servant to quietly take Radha and Badshah out of the room to defuse the tension.
Anupama then steps forward and apologizes to Moti Baa on Rahi’s behalf, explaining that neither Rahi nor Prem are emotionally ready for such a big step. Moti Baa expresses her disappointment, saying she had already performed the Shagun and feels insulted by Rahi’s rejection. Anupama defends Rahi, saying the proposal was unexpected and neither family was aware it would happen today. She adds that times have changed and marriages should never happen without full consent.
Moti Baa argues that the Shagun was given only to stop gossip, much like Prem’s earlier engagement to Mahi, which was quickly broken. She points out that Prarthana got married at 21 and is happy. However, Prarthana’s somber expression suggests otherwise. Prem urges Moti Baa to see things from their perspective, but Moti Baa blames modern women for chasing careers, competing with men, and weakening marriages.
Anupama stands firm and states that every woman should have the freedom to pursue her career. She stresses that life is unpredictable, and independence is essential. “I’ve lived through many phases,” she says. “Every individual—man or woman—should be self-reliant.” Prem adds that he also won’t marry until he has achieved something on his own.
This prompts Parag to lash out, accusing Prem of choosing the Shah family over his own. Prem and Parag enter into a heated exchange. Rahi steps in and urges Parag to be happy that Prem wants to stand on his own. Parag replies that they are so wealthy that even seven generations could live off it. Rahi counters by pointing out that if that were the case, Parag wouldn’t still be working himself.
Parag accuses Prem of making the Shah family his advisors, to which Prem replies bluntly: “You are my problem—your mindset and your pride.”
Anupama tries to calm everyone down, saying both generations have their own valid viewpoints. She asks Parag and Moti Baa to support Prem and Rahi in building their careers. While some family members like Baa, Pakhi, and Toshu look displeased, Kinjal agrees with Anupama and supports her stance.
Moti Baa expresses concern about Prem and Rahi living together unmarried, fearing it would invite societal backlash. Anupama assures her that their upbringing will guide them, and they won’t do anything wrong. But Moti Baa brings up Rahi’s past of running away and Pakhi and Toshu’s elopement. Anupama defends herself with an example from mythology, citing Krishna and Rukmini’s unconventional love.
But Moti Baa cuts her off, calling her a “failed mother” for being divorced and letting her children follow the same path. She strongly states that divorce is a sin.
Anupama, deeply hurt but composed, replies: “What if you see your husband with another woman on your 25th anniversary? Is that not reason enough for divorce? Should a woman still tolerate it just because marriage is sacred?” She explains that her first marriage was arranged and filled with sorrow, and that she left it only after enduring years of pain. She also shares that her second divorce wasn’t due to bitterness but to allow her husband the happiness he deserved.
Anupama clarifies that divorce was never her choice; it was a necessity when the relationship could no longer survive. She also brings up how her daughter Pakhi’s divorce was largely her fault, and how Kinjal saved her marriage with Toshu despite being unhappy.
She continues, “I don’t promote divorce, but I believe relationships must be saved from both sides. It shouldn’t be a one-sided effort.”
Moti Baa remains unmoved and says divorce is always wrong, no matter the justification. She accuses Anupama of teaching her daughter to walk away from relationships and claims that women today divorce for financial gains. “Mothers like you,” she says bitterly, “are the ones who poison their daughters against marriage.”
