Saras and Kumud

The episode begins with Kumud sitting in a dark, locked room, crying. She pleads for someone to open the door and quietly wonders where Saras is. Meanwhile, preparations are underway at the brothel (Kotha), and a group of men arrives. Sunanda greets them warmly and tells Lalit Seth that the main attraction of the evening will only begin once he is present. The song “Ye Kiski Hai Aahat…” plays as some girls begin to dance. Kumud hears the music and grows more anxious, realizing what kind of place she’s trapped in.

Jugnu presents Sunanda with a photo album of some girls, but she brushes it aside, promising to show him a real beauty—a divine dancer. She brings him to see Kumud. Jugnu is intrigued by Kumud’s appearance and compliments her beauty, though he remarks that she looks too modest and conservative. He asks Sunanda to transform her into someone more appealing. Sunanda smugly says Kumud is here by her will and will be molded according to her demands, whether she agrees or not.

Later, Sunanda visits Kumud, admiring her appearance and handing her fancy clothes and jewelry. She instructs Kumud to get ready to perform in front of the guests. Kumud is stunned. Jugnu watches from a distance. Refusing to comply, Kumud throws the plate of clothes to the ground, furious. Sunanda tries to stay calm, telling her that real beauty comes from within a woman, not her attire. Kumud, in anger, grabs Sunanda’s hand and throws away the earrings she was given. Jugnu quietly picks them up, enjoying the drama.

Kumud confronts Sunanda, saying she’s ashamed that a woman like her is humiliating another woman. She had once sympathized with Sunanda, thinking life had forced her into this profession, but now she sees it as betrayal. Kumud shouts that she will never accept this life or dance for anyone. She declares she will escape, no matter what, and orders Sunanda to leave with her things.

Sunanda, still composed, smirks and tells Kumud her strength won’t help her break the doors or escape. She says Kumud could earn fame like Ghuman if she cooperated. Kumud refuses again, saying she does have a choice—faith in God. She believes the divine will guide her to freedom. Sunanda taunts her, saying they did the aarti together and now they’ll see whose prayers are answered. She locks the door and walks away.

Saras, somewhere else, is also praying for Kumud’s safety. Kumud looks at the smiley face Saras had once drawn on her hand and recalls their memories. At the same time, Saras draws the same smiley on his own palm, connecting with her through that bond.

Later, Kumud is offered food and prasad, but she throws it away in despair. Jugnu watches her cry through the bars. Saras, back in his room, is distressed over the lack of updates on Kumud’s whereabouts. Guniyal expresses hope, saying it’s the last day of Navratri and the goddess Durga will defeat all evil.

Meanwhile, Ghuman, feeling victorious, smugly thinks to herself that Kumud is now in a situation she’ll never escape. Pretending to care, she tells Guniyal that Kumud should have attended the prayers and wonders aloud how she might be doing.

As Guniyal prays to Goddess Ambe, Saras stares at the idol and silently places a burning diya in his palm, showing his deep desperation. The family rushes to stop him, but Saras insists on doing the aarti himself. At the same moment, Kumud, on the verge of fainting, holds on to the idol of the goddess in her room. Saras continues the aarti with tears in his eyes, begging the goddess to guide him to Kumud.
