Saras and Kumud update Monday 16 June 2025

saras and kumud

The episode begins with Kumud’s students arriving at her home for the Navratri puja. Saras, holding a lit diya in his hands, is performing the aarti. Kusum gently takes the diya from his hand. Just then, the sound of a girl calling out for Kumud catches everyone’s attention. The students explain they’ve come to meet her.

Meanwhile, at the brothel, Sunanda approaches Kumud while Jugnu watches with a smile. Sunanda tries to persuade Kumud to eat, reminding her that tonight is her first dance and she needs to look presentable. She warns Kumud that if the guests aren’t pleased, she won’t get food. Kumud firmly refuses, saying she never asked for food and tells her to take it away. Sunanda grows angry and threatens her, saying if Kumud doesn’t eat on her own, she will be force-fed. Kumud stands her ground, grabs Sunanda’s hand, and releases it with fury.

Kumud confronts Sunanda, declaring that she values her self-respect more than her life and would rather die than dance. Jugnu steps in to de-escalate the situation and asks Sunanda to leave the room. He locks the door and walks away with her. Back at Kumud’s house, the students are served food. One of them asks about Kumud’s whereabouts. Saras lies, saying she’s gone out.

Jugnu pleads with Sunanda to let Kumud go. He reminds her of his loyalty over the years and says he’s always brought her new girls without asking for anything in return—until now. Sunanda dismisses his plea, mocking him and suggesting he might be in love with Kumud. She tells him that Kumud is too valuable to be let go. Jugnu tries to mask his feelings with a smile.

Later, Kusum tells the students to return home as their mothers are waiting. Saras offers to drop Mishti home. On the way, Mishti asks about Kumud. Saras explains the situation. Mishti urges him to find her soon. When they meet Mishti’s mother, she tells Saras that Kumud had been at the market, looking distressed and holding a pair of old ghungroos, asking about them. Saras thanks her, hopeful that it’s a clue.

Saras goes to the market with Kumud’s photo, asking shopkeepers for any information. One vendor initially doesn’t remember but recalls after Saras mentions the ghungroos. He tells Saras he directed Kumud to Sundarnagar. Convinced it’s a lead, Saras leaves for Sundarnagar and updates Guniyal, asking her not to inform anyone until he brings Kumud back. He wonders why Kumud was so concerned about the old ghungroos.

Back at the brothel, Sunanda throws a pair of ghungroos at Kumud and sarcastically tells her that whether she eats or not is her choice, but she must wear them and dance. Kumud picks up the ghungroos and stares at them and her mangalsutra.

Kumud imagines Saras entering the room, and she emotionally hugs him. The moment feels real, but as music plays, he vanishes. Elsewhere, Saras also imagines seeing Kumud on the road. He stops the car and tries to reach her, only to realize it’s a figment of his imagination. Both are overwhelmed with longing and heartbreak.

Back in the locked room, Kumud is crying when two girls bring her food. One of them mocks her for smiling and tries to persuade her to eat. She says Sunanda has made grand arrangements for her debut and insists that Kumud cooperate. Kumud asks if they’ll kill her otherwise. The girl responds that no one enters or leaves the place without Sunanda’s permission. The other girl seems sympathetic.

She insists that Kumud needs strength if she ever wants to escape. She shares her own tragic story to encourage Kumud. The girl finally gets Kumud to eat, saying, “Think of me as your younger sister.” When Kumud asks her name, she says it’s Kusum. Kumud is stunned and emotional, reminded of her own sister. Tears stream down her face as she eats the food with Kusum’s help. They both cry, and Kumud gently holds Kusum’s hand in gratitude and affection.
